NSW Health - Mock Clinical Trial Management System
Project Overview
This mock Clinical Trial Management System was designed as part of an academic assignment to conceptualize a secure and efficient system for managing clinical trial data. The focus was on data security, privacy, and workflow optimization, addressing the needs of NSW Health in a hypothetical scenario.
Insight: The project emphasized robust security measures and streamlined processes to meet stringent data privacy requirements.
Key Features
- Secure User Management: Proposed integration with Azure Active Directory for authentication and role-based permissions, tailored to various user roles.
- Privacy and Data Security: Hypothetical implementation of hashed identifiable data and secure VPN-only access for off-site connections, ensuring compliance with privacy standards.
- Trial and Participant Management: Conceptual tools for tracking trial phases, managing participant information, and generating real-time progress updates for stakeholders.
My Role
As the project lead and subject matter expert, I was responsible for designing the system architecture, gathering requirements, and creating detailed project documentation. This included a project proposal and System Analysis and Design report, as well as managing a hypothetical team to deliver a cohesive and innovative solution.
Leadership Highlight: Coordinating the project reinforced my ability to align technical designs with stakeholder needs and regulatory requirements.
Proposed Technologies
- Authentication and Access Control: Azure Active Directory for secure, role-based access.
- Database Management: Azure SQL Database for scalable and secure data handling.
- Frontend and Backend: Designed with security-focused architecture to manage sensitive clinical data.
Outcome
This project was recognized in an academic setting for its focus on security, privacy, and workflow efficiency. While purely conceptual, it demonstrated how advanced technologies could be leveraged to address critical needs in clinical trial management.
Academic Recognition: The project highlighted the importance of integrating security and usability in medical software design.
